Preparing teachers and curricular leaders for K-12 schools and other educational settings, as well as scholars of teaching, curriculum and change.
Key Teaching Program Features
Master's Programs
- Meets All Coursework and Internship Requirements for BOTH Initial and Professional NYS Teaching Certification: In addition, you will need to pass the required state exams and complete the teaching requirements for professional certification.
- Shortest Program: Preservice teachers can complete the program in 15 months of full-time study (if starting in summer).
- Focus on a Specialty Area: Include four courses as well as internships specific to your specialty area (Specialty areas include: Elementary, Early Childhood, English Language Arts, World Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Disabilities & Inclusion, Reading & Literacy, TESOL, and Computer Science).
- Preparing for Technology-Rich Schools: Includes hybrid-online coursework in technology-rich teaching; options to take some courses online to experience this learning modality.
- Focus on Teaching ALL Students: Includes courses on teaching students with disabilities and English language learners (ELLs); these required courses may be transferred in for certified teachers.
Doctoral Programs
- Minimum Credits: 90 graduate credits; some of which can be transferred from previous programs (up to 30 credits for PhDs; up to 36 credits for EdDs).
- Customizable: With required courses in research methodologies and academic writing; core theory and research in learning, teaching, and curriculum; and a rich array of specialization and elective courses, it's easy to choose electives in your specific areas of interest, tailor projects in most courses, and most importantly select your dissertation topic.
- Choice of Research Methods: Benefit from a vast array of research methods courses, and choose from a variety of research methods for your dissertation.
- Exciting Research Opportunities: Warner faculty are always working on exciting research and reform projects that provide opportunities for apprenticeships as well as interesting contexts for your dissertation.
- Flexible: Programs can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis, starting in any semester; minimum one year full-time residency requirement for PhD students only.
