University of Rochester Wireless Networks

The University of Rochester uses 1478 access points to provide a secure wireless network across the entire campus.  There are 3 different wireless networks available on campus and each one has benefits and limitations.  For instructions on choosing the correct network and setting up your computer, please visit the UR wireless page.

University of Rochester VPN

Access to selected UR Library resources and some campus computer services is protected from the wireless and other off campus networks by a Virtual Private Network (VPN).  By installing and configuring the campus VPN client on your computer you can gain secure access to on-campus resources.  To access the campus VPN, you first have to have a connection to the internet from your off campus location by contracting with a network provider such as Time Warner or Frontier communications where you live, or by using a publicly available off-campus network.
