Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) Required forTeacher, administrator and school counselor certificationsOverviewProject S.A.V.E. is a two-hour course that is required for certification of professionals who work in the schools in New York State. It was developed as a response to the ever-increasing violence in schools. This workshop will provide school personnel with awareness of violence prevention and intervention skills and techniques that they can use.The school covers the registration fee for students enrolled in a program that leads to New York State certification. Dignity for All Students Act (Dignity Act) Required forTeacher, administrator and school counselor certificationsOverviewNew York State’s Dignity for All Students Act (Dignity Act) seeks to provide New York State public elementary and secondary school students with a safe, supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment and bullying on school property, a school bus or at a school function.The certification training pro-actively addresses the social patterns of harassment, bullying and discrimination. It is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to create and support an affirming educational environment for all students through addressing school culture and climate. It also includes the identification and mitigation of harassment, bullying and discrimination; and strategies for effectively addressing of the problems of exclusion, bias and aggression in educational settings.The 6-hour certification training consists of two parts. Each is a three-hour online training with accompanying assessment. Candidates are eligible for Part 2 upon satisfactory completion of Part 1.The Warner School of Education covers the registration fee for students enrolled in a program that leads to New York State certification.
