Health Professions Education

The MS in Health Professions Education is offered by Warner in partnership with the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and School of Nursing. This innovative interprofessional program offers practicing health care professionals – physicians, nurses, dentists, chiropractors, physician assistants, pharmacists, physical therapists, nutritionists, and other health care specialists – unique opportunities to prepare for:
  • Educating health care professionals to be the workforce of the future.
  • Applying the science of learning to the challenges of educating interprofessional health care teams.
  • Becoming educational leaders in academic medicine, nursing, and other health-related disciplines.
  • Improving the care of patients through innovation and discovery, including tele-health.
The University of Rochester’s Medical Center ranks among the best in the world. The Warner School of Education is a distinguished research school of education. By working together, we prepare aspiring leaders in health professions education who have a keen understanding of the science of learning, how to use educational technology, and how to lead change.  As such, our graduates are well trained to lead in the ever-changing health care environment, and are able to improve the future of health care.

The Warner School's master’s program in health professions education has gained significant interest among international students. The program is ideal for international physicians, nurses, and other health professionals who desire to work, or who are currently working, in a University setting, especially at Universities interested in strengthening the preparation of health care professionals.

Students can complete this 30-credit program in one year (12 months), if studying full time, although many international students prefer to add an additional one or two semesters to take full advantage of field experiences and internship opportunities, and/or to pursue an Advanced Certificate in addition.
