With an unwavering passion for education, Wang’s story unfolds as a testament to the power of experiential learning, cultural competency, and the vibrant community fostered at the Warner School.

Having spent three impactful years of teaching in China and various other corners of the globe, Wang set his sights on the United States, aspiring to become a language teacher. In pursuit of this goal, he enrolled in the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program at Warner, where the school’s commitment to hands-on and experiential learning proved to be a catalyst for his growth. Wang says through multiple student teaching placements and his program’s focus on cultural competency, he learned the skills necessary to be “a more culturally responsive and effective educator.” He says, “These practical and applicable skills have allowed me to create a more inclusive and welcoming learning environment for my students.”

The school’s holistic approach facilitated networking and meaningful connections with faculty and students of diverse backgrounds who shared Wang’s drive and passion for education. “The international atmosphere at Warner allowed me to interact with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, which greatly enriched my educational development,” Wang adds.

Now, as a dedicated language teacher in a public school in Arizona, Wang is translating his Warner-acquired knowledge, resources, and skills into action. He says Warner equipped him with the knowledge and resources to be successful. “The program’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, combined with its emphasis on hands-on, experiential learning, makes it a truly unique and valuable educational experience,” Wang says. “The faculty are knowledgeable, supportive and always willing to go above and beyond to help their students succeed.”
