2026 Award Recipient
Julie White ’13W (PhD), chancellor and CEO of Pierce College District, is the recipient of the Warner School's 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award. In this role, she leads a dynamic educational system encompassing multiple campuses, extended learning sites, and a robust e-learning program. Throughout her career, White has remained committed to justice, strengthening her own determination and capacity to lead meaningful institutional change. White truly embodies the Warner School’s mission to make the world Ever Better and continues to inspire future leaders.

More Just and Humane
2025 Award Recipient
Mary Ellen Burris ’68W (EDM), a pioneering leader in consumer affairs and corporate social responsibility, has been a dedicated philanthropist and community leader. For over 20 years, she has served the Warner School in numerous capacities, including as a member of its National Council and the Advocacy Council for its Center for Urban Education. Her historic philanthropic gifts established the Warner School’s first endowed deanship, two professorships, and an endowed scholarship, securing her exemplary legacy in advancing education.

2024 Award Recipient
Kathleen Parrinello ‘75N, ’83N (MS), ’90W (PhD), president and CEO of Strong Memorial Hospital, brings outstanding contributions to healthcare and education, making her a distinguished leader in both fields. The principles and insights gained from her doctoral study at the Warner School have shaped her leadership approach and allowed her to bridge the gap between educational theory and practice in healthcare.
