A streamlined, accelerated path to a meaningful career in education and human development.
The Warner School of Education & Human Development has launched a new opportunity for undergraduates in the University of Rochester’s School of Arts & Sciences to fast-track their graduate study through the 4+1 Master’s Program for University of Rochester undergraduates. This BA/BS + MS pathway allows students to earn both their bachelor’s and master’s in just five years, offering a streamlined transition into one of Warner’s full-time master’s programs—Teaching, Education Policy, Higher Education, Human Development, and Applied Behavior Analysis.
Designed exclusively for URochester undergraduates, the 4+1 Master’s Program provides a streamlined, cost-effective route to a rewarding career in education or human development. Students can express interest and complete the 4+1 form as sophomores or juniors begin planning their graduate coursework early.
Through the program, undergraduates can complete up to 12 graduate credits at Warner while finishing their bachelor’s degree. These credits count toward both undergraduate and graduate requirements, helping students save time and tuition while gaining valuable experience and flexibility for electives, internships, and job opportunities during their fifth year.
“When I graduated from the University of Rochester as an undergraduate, the first graduate course I took was on human development at the Warner School,” says Melissa Sturge-Apple ’92 (BA), dean at the Warner School. “It set me on my path toward becoming a school counselor early in my career. This experience is one of the many reasons why I am thrilled that Warner is now offering these dedicated 4-1 programs, which will empower students to pursue their passions with purpose—whether that means teaching in classrooms, shaping education policy, leading in higher education, or advancing human development research.”
