We are dedicated to cultivating the higher education leaders of tomorrow with our emerging leader fellowship. Fellows receive extraordinary financial, educational, and career preparation as they work to become effective change-makers and trailblazers in higher education.

How to apply

Step 1
Get nominated

All candidates must be nominated. If you have not already been nominated you can request a nomination.

Step 2
Apply to Warner

Apply for a Master's in Higher Education Administration or Student Affairs Administration, and be sure to select the Higher Education Emerging Leader Fellowship designation.

We will waive the application fee for those who have already been nominated. 

Fellowship benefits

50-100% scholarship

Each Emerging Leader Fellow is eligible to receive a scholarship up to 50% of tuition. Employees of the University of Rochester who are eligible for tuition benefits will receive a 100% tuition scholarship by having their remaining tuition balance waived.

Master's degree

Our 36-credit-hour master's programs in higher education include a mix of required and elective courses that are offered both in online and in-person formats, which enables you to create a personalized program of study tailored to your career interests and needs. Learn more

Free additional certification

Emerging Leader Fellows are eligible to add an advanced certificate in either Program Evaluation or Online Teaching at no additional cost. This will allow Emerging Leader Fellows to graduate from the Warner School with two credentials for the cost of one. 

Professional development

Emerging Leader Fellows will have access to a variety of exclusive career preparation opportunities such as workshops, networking events, and conference funding. 

Supportive learning environment

Each Emerging Leader Fellow will be matched with an academic advisor who will assist in building a personalized program of study tailored to their academic and career interests. Courses are also offered in in-person, online, and hybrid formats for increased flexibility and customization. 

No application fee

Nominated Emerging Leader Fellows will have their application fee waived. While applying fellow must select the Higher Education Emerging Leader Fellowship designation. Get started
