New student orientation sessions
Orientation sessions are held throughout the year for new students. Topics discussed include registration, courses, programs of study, policies, parking and many other areas to help new students. All new students are expected to attend an orientation session. Special accommodations can be made upon request for students with disabilities. RSVP to studentservices@warner.rochester.edu. Helping with international transition
Orientation sessions addresses the cultural, social, and academic issues that incoming students face and helps students transition to graduate school in America. All new international students must attend all orientation sessions.
International orientation topics include:
- Academic Expectations: Writing support, classroom protocols, grading system, academic presentations, and library and media resource support.
- Cultural: Practicing American idioms and language, traveling and shopping in and around Rochester, sharing favorite foods, diversity research, and harassment regulations on and off campus.
- Social: Professional baseball game, Happy Hour, meeting domestic and international Warner students, American celebrations, personal safety and how to negotiate the stresses of graduate school, historical tour of Rochester.
- Immigration requirements, internship opportunities and support.
