Get Real! Teachers

The Get Real! Science program is a 15-month science teacher preparation graduate program designed to foster an understanding of and commitment to reform-based science teaching in urban settings with the ultimate goal of preparing teachers who will enable all students to have access to science, use scientific tools, and ultimately develop scientific literacy.

As emerging science educators, Warner School students in the teaching and curriculum master’s program become teachers for all Get Real! Science activities. Using an inquiry-based approach that engages children in real science, the teachers create lesson plans and projects that lead students in looking at real science problems like scientists would through exciting research, experimentation, and discovery. They then apply this knowledge through hands-on experiences as they guide children through a week-long summer camp, as well as other activities throughout the school year.
