Warner to Host Genesee Valley Writing Project 2011 Summer Institute Info Session for Area Teachers

National Writing Project logoThe Warner School of Education will hold an information session for the Genesee Valley Writing Project 2011 Summer Institute on Sunday, Jan. 23. The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Interfaith Chapel on the University of Rochester’s River Campus.

The Annual Summer Institute, hosted by the Warner School and funded by the National Writing Project, aims to improve the quality of student writing and learning in urban, suburban, and rural schools across Monroe County and surrounding counties. The program brings together area public and private school teachers from all disciplines and at all grade levels of instruction—from pre-kindergarten to university—for a month of intensive reading, writing, research, and practice. Applications must be submitted by March 1.

Local teachers are invited to attend the session to meet participants from previous Genesee Valley Writing Project Summer Institutes, learn about the program details, see demonstration lessons, and experience the camaraderie. The session is open to teachers in all subject areas and all grade levels in Monroe and surrounding counties. Parking will be provided.

RSVPs are appreciated, and can be made by calling (585) 275-0990. For more information, please visit the Genesee Valley Writing Project Web site at www.rochester.edu/warner/gvwp.
