Wednesday Lunch Hour - How Technology is Changing Knowledge Distribution

Wednesday, March 24, 2010
12-1 p.m.
B-315 Dewey Hall

Presented by: Suzanne Bell and Nathan Sarr, River Campus Libraries

Description: For centuries, universities have provided scholars with physical space for the creation, dissemination, and preservation of their research. The University of Rochester has created a virtual space for these core academic pursuits, one that promises to become indispensable to scholars and to encourage open access to academic research worldwide. Created by a team at the University’s River Campus Libraries, UR Research (https://urresearch.rochester.edu/) is a one-stop Web site for managing the academic workflow. The suite of online tools addresses an array of research needs, from authoring manuscripts to showcasing work to storing digital materials securely and when needed, permanently. The presenters will demonstrate how you can store, share, and archive research with the University of Rochester’s new online work space for academics.
