Colloquium: Changing Literacy Beliefs and Practices in Family Child Care

There are approximately 200 group family child care homes in the City of Rochester serving up to 2,000 children between the age of 6 weeks and 5 years. "Partners in Family child Care" is a community initiative aimed at improving the quality of group child care in order to promote children's language, literacy, and social-emotional development. In this colloquium, we will discuss critical issues involved in changing child care providers' professional beliefs and practices, and we will seek to identify promising directions for research stemming from this project.
