Warner Wednesday Talk: “Innovations in Professional Learning - Simultaneous Learning Experiences for Teachers with their Students” (Melissa Staloff and Jennifer Kruger)

Melissa StaloffProfessional learning is typically conducted without students present. In this talk, Melissa Staloff and Jennifer Kruger of the Center for Professional Development & Education Reform, will discuss how they designed and implemented a professional learning experience within a week-long mathematics experience for students, to enhance teachers' understanding of big ideas Jennifer Krugerin mathematics and ambitious teaching practices in mathematics. The mathematics learning and teaching process was reimagined as teachers participated in meaningful experiences alongside their students. The presenters will share how teachers' perceptions of students changed as a result of engaging in this experience and explore future opportunities for this innovative approach.
