Spring 2022 semester details about the transition to online learning for January

Dear Warner Students,

Yesterday, the University of Rochester announced that all Spring 2022 classes will be conducted online for January due to the surge in COVID cases in Monroe County. While this is a change from what the Warner School of Education had planned, it is something for which we are well prepared to handle.

Since the pandemic began in 2020, our faculty and staff have leveraged online technology for optimal learning experiences for you and your fellow students. The school was able to quickly pivot to online learning at the beginning of the pandemic because of our long-standing expertise in offering online classes. In fact, Warner has been at the forefront of online education for several years prior to the pandemic, both in teaching online courses and preparing educators to teach online.

This temporary switch to online learning means that you will continue to have a superior learning and community experience. Our faculty receive ongoing training in teaching online, so that our students can continue to engage and thrive as a vibrant learning community.

As a student, you’ll also have dedicated support staff to help you with any technical issues that may arise in the next few weeks. Our team is available by email whenever there is an online class offered. You can also visit the University’s online support site for information and resources to support you in learning online.

It is also important to note that clinical experiences, including practica and internships, will continue as scheduled if your school or agency is continuing to operate.  Students enrolled in clinical experiences should contact their instructors or clinical coordinators to discuss possible implications with them.

The Warner School looks forward to continuing to provide you with a stellar educational experience, and we look forward to welcoming you back in person soon.

Meliora,
Doug
