Presenter: Mary Jane Curry

In this talk Mary Jane Curry will contextualize the place of English among other world languages in general and specifically in as used in academic publishing, contrary to the ideology that ‘English is the lingua franca of academic publishing.’ Dr. Curry will present research findings about the continued production of scholarship in many other languages and explore the reasons that scholars around the world—including in North America—continue to use their home/local and other languages to reach a range of communities, from research to practice to public audiences.
