12 to 1 p.m.
Presented remotely via Zoom

Presenters: Valerie Marsh, Jayne Lammers, & Elizabeth Conroy

Valerie MarshIn this presentation, Valerie Marsh, Jayne Lammers, and Elizabeth Conroy will provide attendees a window into an on-going research-practice partnership (RPP) between two university researchers and a high school teacher. Together, they studied and supported the teacher’s design and implementation of a unit of instruction focused on youth advocacy. Their collaboration is framed by theories that reposition youth from underserved populations to agents of change who can question, critique, and transform oppressive social structures. The RPP engaged in a design-based research process, which began by identifying unit-level pedagogical goals that the team then studied and iterated instruction accordingly. They will share their initial assertions on how RPPs provide space, time, and resources for teacher thinking and planning.
