Adrienne Morgan photoIn October of 2020, URMC revealed its Equity & Anti-Racism Action Plan—a five-year roadmap that outlines strategies to strengthen diversity and inclusion across the Medical Center. It identifies accountable leaders, sets metrics for measuring success, and ensures transparency through regular reporting. Adrienne Morgan, PhD, associate vice president for equity and inclusion and senior associate dean for equity and inclusion at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, is among the chief architects of the plan and, along with others, is leading the charge to make the Medical Center the university of choice for learners and trainees along with the employer and provider of choice. She will discuss how the plan addresses five critical areas of improvement and will provide an update on milestones already achieved. She will also discuss how the collaborative nature of this work is essential to achieving transformative change.
Adrienne Morgan, PhD, is the University of Rochester’s associate vice president for Equity and Inclusion, and senior associate dean for equity and inclusion for the School of Medicine and Dentistry. Morgan is an assistant professor in the Division of Medical Humanities and Bioethics in the Medical Center, where she teaches a popular medical humanities seminar focusing on anti-racism. She is also an adjunct professor at the Warner School teaching ED430, College Retention: Theory, Research, and Practice. As one of the chief architects of the Equity & Anti-Racism Action Plan, Morgan has worked with residents, fellows, and faculty to identify and address challenges and identify solutions for greater inclusivity throughout the University.
