Opting Out book coverDavid Hursh, a professor at the Warner School, will hold discussions and book signings for his book Opting Out: The Story of the Parents’ Grassroots Movement to Achieve Whole-Child Public Schools on Saturday, March 7, at 3 p.m., at Hipocampo Children’s Books, (638 South Avenue, Rochester, N.Y.), and on Wednesday, March 11, at 7 p.m., at The College at Brockport, State University of New York in the Liberal Arts Building, McCue Auditorium (350 New Campus Drive, Brockport, N.Y.). The book tells the story of two parents becoming education activists in the opt-out movement and how others—students, parents, teachers—have joined them in resisting high-stakes testing in New York State.
