Wednesday Lunch Hour - A Freedom School's Response to Miseducation

Wednesday, February 27, 2019
Noon - 12:50 pm
Genrich-Rusling Room, LeChase 215

Nancy Ares, Associate Professor in Teaching & Curriculum, and her research team present their study of a Rochester-area Freedom School’s response to miseducation of its communities’ children. Their work illuminates central features of this School’s strength-based and liberatory pedagogy to inform educators committed to the healthy learning and development of children living in communities under pressure from such things as racism, under-resourced public schools, disinvestment by government, inter-generational poverty, and cultural and class warfare by society/governmental institutions.

A light lunch will be served. Food will be available at 11:45 am. The program will begin promptly at noon.

No need to RSVP. For any accommodation needs please contact Mary Judge at (585) 275-2454 or email at Mjudge@warner.rochester.edu.
