Wednesday Lunch Hour - The Peer-Led Team Learning Workshop Program at the U of R: How Should We Measure Success?

Wednesday, November 7, 2018
Noon - 12:50 pm
Genrich-Rusling Room, LeChase 215

The peer-led team learning model is firmly established at the University of Rochester. Since 1995 we have been documenting the success of the program using quantitative measures, collecting student feedback, and tracking the growth of the program. Our current analyses need an overhaul as we consistently find that students attend workshops at a high rate with little variability in distribution. Where do we go from here? For this presentation we will introduce our program, how we currently assess it and what we think our next steps might be to improve this process. We also will solicit audience feedback to help us improve our current assessment practices to improve sensitivity, better track the effects on individuals and groups, and incorporate innovative adaptations.

Presented by M. Cecilia Barone, Assistant Director, Workshops; Robin Frye, Assistant Director, Tutoring & Study Skills; Nic Hammond, Assistant Director, Workshops; and Kyle Trenshaw, Education Development Specialist for Science and Engineering. All are members of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at the University of Rochester.

A light lunch will be served. Food will be available at 11:45 am. The program will begin promptly at noon.
