Agency Fair for Families of Children with Disabilities Scheduled for Oct. 12

Event to Connect Greater Rochester Families, Transitional Support

WHO: East Upper and Lower Schools and the Institute for Innovative Transition at the University of Rochester’s Warner School of Education invite all Greater Rochester area families of children, ages 12 to 21, with a disability to attend an Agency Fair to learn about the many college options and employment opportunities available to students with disabilities. Several nonprofits and businesses that support children with disabilities and their families (from adult service providers and local representatives from state agencies) will be onsite to give families in need of transitional services the opportunity to speak with representatives in one central setting.

WHY: The Agency Fair is to help guide and provide assistance to all Rochester-area families of children with disabilities with navigating the disability system; understanding options, including college and employment; obtaining information from local agencies and support services; learning how to advocate for their child; and locating accessible transportation. The family-friendly event is free, and light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Mary Judge at (585) 275-2454 or e-mail mjudge@warner.rochester.edu or visit www.nytransition.org.

TIME, DATE, PLACE: The Agency Fair will be held in the cafeteria of East High School (1801 E. Main Street, Rochester, N.Y.) on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

ABOUT THE EAST EPO PARTNERSHIP: The University of Rochester, as the Educational Partnership Organization (EPO) for East High School, has assumed full management responsibilities for East, effective July 2015.
