Wednesday Lunch Hour - Transforming Raw Data into Research Publications: Primary and Secondary Coding Processes from the EdTPA Project

Wednesday, April 6, 2016
Noon - 12:50 pm
Genrich-Rusling Room, LeChase 215

Join us for a look into a research project that examines the implementation of the EdTPA performance assessment sytem for pre-service teachers in New York. The researchers will talk about the processes they used for transforming raw interview data into themes that become the basis of research articles. Over two years, they conducted surveys of over 350 teaching candidates across New York and Washington and interviewed 60 for a follow-up interview, including 36 in the second year. The talk will take a close look at the analysis of these 36 interviews, describing both primary and secondary coding processes, and the transformation of this data into findings and then manuscripts.

Presenters: Jeffrey Choppin, Associate Professor and Chair of Teaching and Curriculum, and Kevin Meuwissen, Assistant Professor.

Lunch from Moe's will be served. Food will be available at 11:45 am. The program will begin promptly at noon.
