WXXI Connections: East's Partnership with the University of Rochester

Members of the East community were on WXXI "Connections with Evan Dawson" on December 3, 2015 to give an update on the school's EPO partnership with the University of Rochester. East scholars and staff shared how the school is different this year, the changes they've experienced, and what it's like to be a student/staff member at East.

Shaun Nelms, East superintendent, and Steve Uebbing, East project director and Warner School professor, also highlighted some of the early signs of progress at East, such as a higher average daily attendance, a significant decrease in the number of suspensions, and an overall improved school culture. It was also an opportunity for the East EPO team to help provide some clarity around some of the public concerns related to the student selection/recruitment process, the EPO budget, and the continuum of special education services and resources offered at East. They also shared some of the long-term goals and vision for the new East.
