About RIA: As a newcomer's program in the Rochester City School District, RIA serves mostly refugee students and students with interrupted education. Their mission is to  provide new immigrant students with an instructional program that simultaneously develops English language proficiency while facilitating their acquisition of content knowledge. As a program instead of a school, RIA does not have a budget for its library. The books at the RIA library, most of which were donated from the Thomas Jefferson High School, were neither content or age appropriate for students at RIA. The Warner Graduate Student Association is working together with Julianne Wise, the librarian at RIA, to compile a list of appropriate books for this student population.
