Internships/Field Experiences

Warner School provides a balance of theory and opportunities to put these theories into practice. While some of the master’s programs have required and recommended internships and field experiences, volunteering and interning are strongly encouraged to gain valuable professional and personal experience.

Examples of the field experiences that our international students have participated in include:
 
Off Campus
  • Teachers and teaching assistants at The Chinese School
  • Teach Chinese painting and calligraphy at a public elementary school
  • Graduate assistant in student affairs at Rochester Institute of Technology
  • Teaching and curriculum development of ESL program at the State University of New York at Brockport
  • Chinese teachers and teaching assistant at several private K-12 schools
  • Student advising at Alfred University
  • Teaching at Refugees Helping Refugees program
  • TESOL teachers for the Rochester City School District
  • Clinical faculty position at Gettysburg College
  • Higher education experiences at the United Nations
  • Curriculum development at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City

On Campus
  • Facilitate English classes for University-wide students and family members (in partnership with the International Services Office)
  • Proctor and tutor University of Rochester undergraduates (in partnership with the Center for Excellence for Teaching and Learning)
