Provides an understanding of the development that ordinarily occurs in children from birth to three years old and of the ways this development can be affected by a variety of factors, including individual and environmental variables and instruction. Examines the range of programs designed to serve very young children, the regulations that govern these programs, and the assessment tools commonly used.
