ED567 Designing Research for Online Spaces

As people spend more time living and learning while connected to an ever-changing range of online platforms, questions about how to make sense of and investigate these spaces become important for researchers to consider. Researchers studying online spaces face unique opportunities and challenges and this course guides students in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to design research for these contexts. The course is intended for advanced doctoral students who have taken introductory research methods courses. Students will study an online space, become familiar with relevant methodological literature, and will produce drafts of a research proposal and corresponding RSRB materials. This hybrid course will meet face-to-face for the first and last class sessions, and in online synchronous sessions for the remainder of the semester.
