Internships in Developmental Disabilities Available to UR Undergraduate, Graduate Students

 

The Transition Partnership, a collaboration of the Warner School of Education, Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities, and the Golisano Foundation, is seeking applicants for interns for the new Developmental Disabilities: A Focus on Transitionprogram for the next academic year. Beginning September 2008, six internships will be available for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Rochester. Any student enrolled full- or part-time, or enrolling in the fall, in a University undergraduate or graduate degree program may apply.

Funded by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities and administered by the Warner School, the internships will take place in the local Developmental Disabilities Service Office or in a local developmental disability agency. Additional professional development opportunities and a generous stipend will be provided.

Preferably the ideal candidates will have an interest in working with adolescents and young adults in the field of developmental disabilities, and be interested in quality of life issues for all people, including those with disabilities.
